Law Office Of Jake Stebner

I graduated with a Juris Doctor degree from Texas Wesleyan University School of Law (now Texas A&M University School of Law) in Fort Worth. After spending my final semester as a visiting student of the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law, I remained in the Sacramento area where I began working for the Chastaine Law Office in Folsom, California. As an associate attorney at The Chastaine Law Office, I practiced criminal defense and personal injury law with Michael Chastaine, a prominent Northern California trial attorney. I also became a Central California Appellate Project (CCAP) panel attorney, appointed by the Courts of Appeal for the Third and Fifth Districts to represent people on appeal who have been convicted of felony offenses. In the summer of 2013, I moved to beautiful Sonoma County and opened my own law practice in Santa Rosa, California, focusing on criminal defense—both trials and appeals. I later had the privilege of becoming a legal consultant for the North Bay Regional Center, a non-profit organization that provides services to people with developmental disabilities. I work very hard to help each client achieve the best possible outcome in his or her unique case. I’m thorough and vigilant. And I take great pride in crafting creative arguments and developing innovative legal strategies.

While every criminal case is of great importance, each individual case presents unique circumstances. If you have been accused of felony or misdemeanor crimes, you should contact my office as soon as possible—especially before speaking with law enforcement—so we can begin building the right defense strategy for you to achieve the best possible outcome in your particular case.

Every person who has been convicted of a crime can pursue a direct appeal of that conviction or its unfavorable consequences. If you were recently convicted of a felony, you can retain the Law Office of Jake Stebner to skillfully challenge that conviction or its unfavorable consequences on direct appeal.

PLEASE NOTE: To preserve your right to appeal your felony conviction you must file a notice of appeal in the trial court within 60 days of judgment and sentencing or you will almost certainly forever lose your ability to pursue a direct appeal of that conviction. (Notice of appealing a misdemeanor conviction must be filed in the trial court within only 30 days of judgment and sentencing.)

Criminal convictions can have devastating and lifelong consequences. Have you suffered a conviction and want to challenge that conviction by petitioning for a writ of habeas corpus to reverse the judgment against you? Do you want to try to withdraw your guilty plea or no-contest plea? Do you want to try to get your period of probation terminated early? Do you want to try to get your felony “wobbler” conviction reduced to a misdemeanor? Do you want to try to clean up your criminal record so you can lawfully deny its existence to most prospective employers? The Law Office of Jake Stebner can help you with all of this.
